He studied Law in Utrecht, graduating in 1986. After being part of the legal department of the General Staff of the Land Forces at The Hague, he worked for four years at an international law firm in Amsterdam. In 1991, he started a legal practice in Valencia, where he was a founding partner of a law firm until 1999. In the meantime, he was admitted as a Spanish lawyer to the local Bar Association and obtained the Spanish law degree Licenciado en Derecho. Since 1999, he has had a legal practice in Barcelona as partner of De Haan & Mulder. Boris Mulder is married and has three children. He is an active member of the Board of the Benjamin Franklin International School (www.bfischool.org) and enjoys sports.
