History
Jan Willem de Haan was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands, on 5 June 1960 and grew up in Eindhoven. He studied Spanish and Law in Amsterdam, graduating in 1986. A scholarship at a Madrid based law firm in 1987 was his step to a career as a Dutch and Spanish lawyer.
From 1988 until 1992 he worked at the law firm of CMS Derks Star Busmann in Utrecht and Ekelmans Den Hollander (nowadays Lovells) in Amsterdam.
After his admission to legal practice in The Netherlands (Utrecht 1988 and Amsterdam 1989) and in Spain (Madrid 1991 and Barcelona 1992), he started at Ernst & Young in Barcelona. Subsequently he has been partner of two Spanish law firms before founding De Haan & Mulder. Jan Willem de Haan is married and he has a daughter.
